The first water filling of Vedi reservoir has launched

Armenian Territorial Development Fund expresses its attitude to RA Government and French Development Agency for trusting the construction of reservoir to the Fund professional team, during the years of Armenia independence. The first water filling of Vedi reservoir has launched these days.

The water reservoir will store 29.3 million cubic meter of water which will enable to irrigate 3.220 ha. of land by gravity.

Intra-house irrigation network with 580 ha. is ready for operation.

The price of reservoir construction made 60 million EURO, that was allotted by RA Government and French Development Agency. 

 

Details:

  • Capacity: The reservoir is designed to hold 29.3 million cubic meters of water.
  • Irrigation: It will be used to irrigate 3220 hectares of land, according to atdf.am.
  • Funding: The project was funded by a loan from the French Development Agency (AFD) and co-financing from the Armenian government.
  • Purpose: The reservoir aims to reduce reliance on Lake Sevan for irrigation, provide a more reliable water supply for the Ararat Valley, and enable a transition to gravity irrigation systems, which are more efficient and save electricity.
