2021 – Development of Design and Cost Estimate Documentation for an Irrigation Pipeline in the Artsvakar District of Gavar City

Client: Gavar Municipality

As part of this project, it was planned to construct an irrigation pipeline using polyethylene pipes, with steel outlet pipes to ensure reliability during frequent connections and disconnections of flexible hoses by residents.

Key Technical Details:

• Hydraulic calculations determined the following parameters for the new pipeline:
  • Flow rate: 14.3 L/s
  • Pressure head: 9.2 meters
  • Pipe diameter: 110 mm
• Strength calculations for the pipeline were carried out according to SNiP 2.06.03-85 standards, considering ground load, pedestrian traffic, and internal water pressure.

To facilitate future system expansion and simplify management, the design preserved an existing valve at the junction of the new and old pipelines, relocating it into a newly constructed inspection chamber.

At key pipeline junctions, the project included:

• Construction of manholes (1.0 m in diameter) for air release and drainage valves.

Water Distribution to Users:

• Outlets with free-flow discharge and valve-based flow regulation were included, considering that downstream water transportation to individual plots would be managed by each user independently.

Per the municipality, there would be irrigation periods during which the pump’s discharge would need to be regulated and delivered through the newly designed pipelines to ensure effective field irrigation.

Scope of Constructed Works:

• Total length of irrigation pipeline: 1.9 km
• Valve nodes, air release structures, pressure regulators, and manholes built: 3 units
• Water outlets with valve assemblies on farmers' plots: 10 units
• Author supervision was conducted during construction to ensure compliance with the design documentation.
