Core Values Image

As a result of on-site studies, irrigation water demand analysis, and techno-economic justifications carried out under the contract, the following investment needs were identified for the modernization of the proposed system:

  • Efficient and loss-free use of the Kharami River discharge by minimizing water losses
  • Expansion of the reservoir’s capacity
  • Settling and accumulation of water within the reservoir
  • Modernization of water intake structures
  • Construction of new pipelines and water mains
  • Ensuring the required irrigation water supply and timing, leading to an increase in irrigated land area, improved agricultural productivity, and profitability

Engineering and Technological Solutions Provided During the Design Phase:

1. Reservoir

  • The project includes cleaning sediment, deepening, and expanding the reservoir using adjacent community land. As a result, the water storage volume has been increased to 1,500 m³.
  • To prevent clogging of the water intake and main pipeline, a three-stage sedimentation basin has been designed with different depths (ranging from 2.4m to 1.2m) to settle hydraulic particles with velocities greater than 15 mm/sec, based on water flow direction.
  • To prevent soil erosion around the concrete embankment during high water levels, gabion reinforcements have been designed on both sides of the embankment at a 300 angle.
  • The reservoir was modeled to maintain the normal operating water level (NWL) 0.2m below the top of the embankment, while the dead storage level in the first sedimentation zone was set at 0.3m.

2. Water Intake Structure

  • Cleaning of the intake and replacement of 3 sliding flat gates
  • Enlargement of the outlet pipe using a 219x5mm steel pipe
  • Filling nearby trenches with soil and restoring the approach platform

3. Main Pipeline

  • A new pipeline is to be constructed along a new route, including the design of air release and drain chambers on the pressure line as needed

4. Distribution Reservoir

  • Planned repair works include:
    • Demolition and replacement of the concrete base layer, with reinforcement and concreting
    • Internal surface repair and hydro-insulation using Ceresit or similar materials
    • Construction of underground chambers for inlet and outlet valves

5. Distribution Pipelines

  • Considering the layout of the irrigated fields, simultaneous supply polyethylene pipelines have been designed along the north and south directions from the reservoir, including the appropriate number of hydrants for controlled water discharge.
